Golden bundles up in November and December, as average temperatures hover near freezing and darkness comes earlier. Yet, most days are still sunny with afternoon temperatures averaging near 50 throughout these months.
Shopping, concerts, live theater, and wintry walks along the Avenue or Golden's trails are some of the things visitors will enjoy during this magical time of year. This is also when you will discover one of Golden's best kept secrets. When it snows in Golden, count on the streets and sidewalks to be cleared long before Denver's or our suburban neighbors.
There's no more picturesque place to enjoy the holidays than Golden. The highlight of the season is the Golden Candlelight Walk, when thousands will brave the cold to carry candles through historic downtown to watch the lighting of the lights along Clear Creek. Golden's Christmas Parades are another sure cure for a seasonal case of Bah Humbug. Each December Saturday at 11 am, an eclectic troupe of Santas, horses, elves, carriages, dancers, singers, dogs and even a tractor or two will bring a smile to the Scrooges among us.
