Blue grass is the usual free fare at the Clear Creek History Park on Thursday evenings in the summer. A two-minute walk down the Clear Creek Trail will bring you to the creekside patio at the Golden Hotel where you'll most frequently hear jazz and blues.

Here's what's playing.

The sound of live music can often be heard wafting through Golden's air. There are regular concerts at the Buffalo Rose Saloon, Golden Hotel, Miner's Alley Playhouse and the Colorado School of Mines Green Center. In the summer especially, there are frequent live performances in Golden's parks and on its downtown sidewalks.

The Jefferson Symphony Orchestra will present six concerts and recitals in Golden this season, four at the Green Center and two at the First United Methodist Church. Local and national acts typically perform three nights a week on the Buffalo Rose Events Center stage, with more live music on the outdoor patio/bar on summer afternoons and evenings. The Golden Hotel provides more sedate fare on Thursday evenings on the creekside patio in the summer and in the Bridgewater Bar and Grill in cooler weather. There are weekly concerts in the Clear Creek History Park in the summer.

One thing Golden doesn't have is a full time movie theater. But if you enjoy live theater, you're in luck. Since 2003, the intimate and award winning Miner's Alley Playhouse in historic downtown Golden has thrilled audiences with year-round productions and concerts.

The Colorado School of Mines Little Theater Company stages two productions each fall and another in the spring, and Golden High School's Right Stage Productions also stages three major productions each year.
