Ah, springtime in the rockies. March and April are great months to visit Golden.

Golden retrievers enjoy the sunshineTwo Golden residents pose in front of an historical marker and spring snow a block from downtown.

Expect every kind of weather in March. March temperatures can range from an all-time high of 82° F to minus 11° F.  March is Golden's snowiest month too, with an average of 10 inches, but sunny days quickly melt any snow on the ground. With daylight saving time, the walkway along Clear Creek fills with dogs, strollers, walkers and bike riders, and early kayakers and even swim suited youngsters make their appearance on warm afternoons.

April is no stranger to weather extremes either. The record low temperature is -1° F, but sunny high average temperatures of 63° and average lows above freezing announce that it really is springtime. April is also the month in which Golden typically sees its last snow flakes for the season.

At the School of Mines, E-days brings fireworks that shake all of Golden, a cardboard boat race down icy Clear Creek, and other festivities.
